Ko and Esperanza

I am reading two different books about two different characters. The first book was So Far From the Bamboo Grove by Yoko Kawashima Watkins. Ko was in the book her family had a big problem. They got separated during a big journey. She is only 16 years old. The other book I read was Esperanza Rising. The author is Pam Munoz Ryan. The character in the book is Esperanza. She has a big problem too. Her father has past and she and her family have to move to California form Mexico. Her mother also has to marry Esperanza’s uncle. Esperanza is only 13 years old.

First Ko is very sassy. She is sassy because she tells Yoko her younger sister to do things when she doesn’t want to do them. Next Ko is very strange. She doesn’t care what people think of her and she does thing people wouldn’t normally do. The last character trait is she is brave. She is brave because she went back into a burning house to get her mothers ashes and belongings.

Esperanza Rising is the second character. She is not sassy but she is very quite. She only talks to her family and friends, nobody else. She is also very strange. She dresses really fancy. She is also brave because cops were coming after immigrants and everybody ran and hid and Esperanza just hid and just stood there working and she didn’t get caught. Everybody thought she was going to get caught.

Esperanza and Ko have some similarities the same but a whole different life. Ko is very sassy, brave, and strange. Esperanza is not sassy she is very quite and she is brave and strange. They are in two different stories, but have similar personalities.
